What You Need To Know About Weight Control For Children?

In the United States alone, an astounding one fourth of the overall population of teenagers and children are found to be obese. But despite this rate, it is still alarmingly growing. With parents and grandparents catering to their children’s unhealthy eating and bad idling habits, this is not surprising. But if you are concerned for your children’s future, you know this is a serious matter to be considered. More than controlling what they eat or what they do, you need to consider weight control for children to treat the matter before it goes worse.

Obesity, when not treated properly and as early as possible, can be carried on to teen years, and eventually, to adult years. Of course, when a person is obese, it is the abnormally fat figure which is always being ridiculed, bullied, and harassed at. Unfortunately, the problem goes beyond the appearance and social distraction.

Obesity, as clinically discovered, can lead to some chronic diseases, such as heart failure and diabetes. It can even go worse, as these diseases can hit a person as early as in their childhood obese years.

So, instead of giving in to your children’s craving of sugar-loaded and fattening foods or unhealthy habits of being inactive most of the day, start looking out for the best weight control program for children. This is imperative if you don’t want to see your children suffering from chronic diseases and be plagued with expensive hospital treatments.  Childhood obesity is becoming a pandemic worse than the swine flu which is not as dangerous.

If you can’t simply get your obese child to eating the right or healthy foods, just think of the life and death matter, which is not a far possibility if not given the right treatment. There are many approaches available for you to successfully lure your children to get treated, to eat healthily, and live normally, just like other healthy children. So, there is no big deal if you’re thinking how you can encourage your child.

When choosing weight control program for children, you need to be very careful. If you are thinking you can apply your kind of diet, it isn’t going to treat the obesity problem of your child. This is because children basically need different kinds of nutrition as you do.

Weight control programs for adults are different from weight control for children. It is therefore recommended that you consult with the right persons, such as a pediatrician or nutritionist, before you submit your child to a specific weight control program.

The diet with which children are subjected to focuses on lowering weight gain while they are growing. It emphasizes the need of resorting to healthy eating habits as well as active lifestyle rather than just being in front of the television or computer sets all the time.

Now, when it comes to talking or encouraging your child into undergoing a specific weight control program, this not a difficult phase at all. What you need to do is to ensure you show your support and love for them. Make sure you are clear about how you are very much concerned over their health and future well-being.

Also, it is important that you guide them all throughout their childhood to teen years and even from teen to adult years. It is also a big factor to being successful in treating obesity problems if you can be a role model to them, from your eating habits, activeness, and healthy living ways. If you can increase family activities, then you even increase chances of being successful in this matter.

Too Much Salt in Kids Diets-Sodium Surprise!

The Sodium Surprise for Moms -Check the Food Labels Before you Buy for Your Kids

At your next trip to the grocery store and before you buy your kids some snacks check the labels for sodium or salt content.

High Salt Foods are made Worse By Adding Salt at the Dinner Table

High Salt Foods are made Worse By Adding Salt at the Dinner Table

Today’s prepackaged foods are all over salted and can cause blood pressure problems in children. Snacks like potato chips, fast foods, soft drinks are laced with tons of sodium or salt.  In the natural state even vegetables contain natural salt therefore there is no need to add more salt.  Even a fresh tomato from your garden has sodium already in the tomato yet people add more salt.  The sodium surprise is that foods from the ground already have salt content.

In Canadian studies it is revealed that Canadian foods have more salt that foods sold in the United States and Canadian children have a higher rate of hypertension or blood pressure problems. This is called the Sodium Surprise in food labels. Even pet foods have high sodium content which causes dogs and cats to have kidney or attention problems.

In homes people add salt to already high salt content foods which makes the matter worse.  Even soft drinks and juice drinks contain far too much salt which is added to bottled water.  Manufacturers of foods must be held accountable for the addition of salt which is not necessary in human foods but are added in the manufacturing process. Everything from crackers, chocolates, chips, soft drinks, take out foods, TV dinners, pre-packaged dinners, pizza, lasagna, burger mixes, candy, nuts, and even bottled water contain too much salt which is not needed for kids or adults.

Pizza, Chips, Soda Pop are all High in Salt or Sodium Content

SIDE EFFECTS OF TOO MUCH SALT IN KIDS DIETS:

1) Hyper tension or High blood Pressure

2) Kidney damage or kidney failure.

3) Excessive thirst which leads to more drinking of salty water or soda pop.

4) Kidney stones which are painful, cause blockages and must be removed.

5) Learning disabilities in kids and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorders.

6) Memory problems in kids.

7) Difficulty assessing goals and mental difficulties in learning.

8) Brain Damage.

These are rather severe side effects for a mom to know and if she is feeding her kids salty foods these are the side effects of a high sodium diet.  Studies have proven even breakfast cereals are high in salt.

Kentucky Fried Chicken has been studied including their kiddie menu called Popcorn Chicken, and Burger King’s Onion Rings as well as Special K cereals are high in salt.

If you wish to keep your kids healthy -always check the salt content of the food your kids are eating by reading the labels on each product.

TIPS ON REDUCING SALT IN YOUR KIDS DIETS

1) Read FOOD LABELS.

2) Do not purchase high salt products.

3) Ask your grocer for non-salt products.

4) Reverse blood pressure problems by reducing salt intake.

5) Add flavors such as herbs or vegetables to your kids daily meals.

6) Put away the salt shaker and add natural snacks.

7) Buy only unsalted nuts or pretzels which are low calorie and salt free.

By increasing your own awareness on products that contain high salt you will be protecting your family from diseases that will surely cost more money in the long run for your family.

You may want to print this page out for your own sake and tape it to your Fridge- its kid friendly. Your kids may want to go to McDonald’s or Burger King but the wholesome foods on this page are the building blocks to your kid’s health.

To a Vegetarian family the choices are simple and nutritious when you stick to the basics of the food groups that help kids grow healthy instead of feeding them the fat, sugar and useless ingredients in processed packaged foods. The kind of food we grew up on was vastly more nutrient filled than today’s diet for kids. Foods did not contain: dyes, colors, preservatives, gmo’d pesticides and they were not stripped of vitamins and minerals. Even our drinking water was healthier and contained less chlorine and it did not contain pharmaceutical drugs as it does today.
Our air was cleaner with less pollutants and fewer cars or coal factories which today are choking our air and our kids are developing asthma, breathing problems and diseases at an alarming rate.

If you follow the basic food groups by giving your children the Vegetarian Kid’s Diet -you will spend less time and money at the doctor’s office, and have a healthy active kid.
